WORLD FIRST: A quantum leap in flap disc technology:
Flap Discs PLANTEX® Universal - the environmentally
friendly flap disc
The new PLANTEX® flap disc has been developed to replace the glass
fibre discs. This natural fibre high tech compound material required a
new, patented treatment method (impact process) for hemp fibres to be
developed before the required strength values for grinding discs could
be achieved. This material is harmless, can be disposed of easily and
is made mainly of sustainable natural materials that produce a good CO2
balance throughout the process from production to disposal.

PLANTEX® Universal
ELASTIC FLAP DISC
 |
A comparison to convince everybody!
® Universal flap discs cost no more than conventional flap discs with
glass fibre backing, but offer you considerable added value:
- longer service life and faster cutting rate due to the flexible
backing, resulting in bigger contact surface area during grinding,
improved heat dissipation and lower grinding temperatures
- Top quality abrasives material - 100% pure zircon
- Environmentally friendly backing disc that is better for the
operators health; made of hemp fibre high tech compound
- Safe to use - no harmful glass fibre dust or resin vapours are
produced during the grinding operation or trimming of the discs
(smells similar to wood chips)
- Plantex® discs can be worn down completely, the backing
disc can be easily trimmed down - it produces soft, harmless swarf
that can be disposed of as domestic waste
- Hemp is a sustainable raw material which saves energy, resources
and protects the environment
- Hemp has an attractive CO2 energy balance and counteracts the
Greenhouse effect
- The strength of hemp in the high tech compound is by no means
inferior to glass fibre
- The high tech compound can be disposed of easily and is not
a special waste like glass fibre discs

shape stability - yet elastic |
- brittle, not
elastic |
| + adjusts well to the workpiece surface
during operation |
- not very flexible |
| + heat-absorbent - reduces the temperature during grinding |
- builds up heat during
operation - glazes abrasives |
| + good chemical properties, resistant

- difficult to trim |
| + self-trimming,
very easy to cut, without emissions of harmful glass fibre dust
and chemical resin vapours. The backing disc is trimmed back
automatically during the grinding process |
- razor-sharp
glass fibre pieces are produced during grinding and trimming,
which can damage the workpiece or may
cause injuries |

special waste - classed as domestic waste |
- must be disposed as special

- high
energy consumption for production and disposal of discs |
| + much
better stock removal rate and service life due to the flexible
backing disc and the use of 100% pure Zircon abrasives |
- relatively rigid disc
allows the use of a section of the available abrasives only |

The Plantex® high tech compound is elastic and adjusts better
to curved workpieces. The elasticity has another performance enhancing
effect: because its flexible, the flap discs has a considerably larger
contact surface area and thus removes more material (see picture to
the left). The abrasion capacity is therefore higher and the larger
contact surface area also dissipates more heat, resulting in a cooler
workpiece and eliminating the glazing of the abrasive disc.
|
 |
The
cooling agent in the bond of the flap disc and above all the heat
absorption of the high tech compound material dissipate excessive
heat during the grinding process. A cooler grinding process also extends
the service life of the flap discs. |
 |
Use all the material on the disc down to the last
millimetre by automatic trimming of the backing disc during grinding
- or simply trim using the Plantex flap disc on a sharp steel edge.
Significant time and money savings!
|
 |
The right speed increases the service life of a flap disc by up
to 100 % - virtually doubling the life. The optimal speed for flap
discs is between 5000 - 8000 rpm, depending on their size and the
material surface. Used at the optimum speed, they achieve their
optimum grinding capacity and service life.
Variable speed angle grinders, especially our Varilex
WSF 1600, are the preferred angle grinder for all types of flap
discs. |

|
Never has disc changing been so quick, easy and efficient!
Thanks to the EASY-LOCK clamping nut the abrasives on an angle
grinder can now be changed in seconds without requiring any tools
or opening a clamp etc. The EASY-LOCK clamping nut will work with
any abrasive with a hemp or ABS backing disc. That means you can
change any Eisenblatter abrasives for an angle grinder in a matter
of seconds using this uniquely simple solution.
The clamping collar shaped on the top of the EASY-LOCK clamping
nut can secure flap discs and abrasives with a "THICKER"
backing disc securely as well as centering them at the same time.
"THIN" abrasives such as cutting discs etc can simply
be secured using the reverse of the EASY-LOCK clamping nut. |
